Sr. Manager - Geohazard Mitigation (Rockfall & Slope Stability)

ROLE MAIN PURPOSE
To provide technical expertise and consultancy in slope stability, geotechnical evaluation, and rock or soil stabilization works, ensuring that all designs, studies, and construction activities meet the highest engineering and safety standards.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare tender documents and technical specifications related to slope stability and stabilization works.
- Review geological and geotechnical studies submitted by the contractor or consultant in full technical detail.
- Review structures geology in the area (Faults- Folds- Joints).
- Analyse laboratory and field test results to assess slope stability and soil/rock conditions.
- Evaluate the technical feasibility of the proposed stabilization solutions.
- Review and verify quantity take-offs for all slope stabilization items.
- Examine the recommendations section of geological studies and ensure their technical soundness.
- Review and assess support system design items such as rock bolts, soil nails, shotcrete, retaining structures and rock barrier.
- Prepare detailed review reports highlighting observations, recommendations, and required corrections.
- Approve final designs after verifying compliance with project requirements and standards.
- Review and confirm the positioning of rock bolts and anchors prior to drilling and installation.
- Supervise and verify field pull-out tests for rock bolts to ensure proper performance and adherence to specifications.
- Review and approve shotcrete mix design, including proportions, compressive strength, and material compatibility.
- Inspect and approve installation methods of wire mesh and reinforcement systems according to recommendations.
- Review surface and subsurface drainage systems to ensure long-term slope stability.
- Monitor daily and weekly site progress reports and provide technical feedback.
- Evaluate executed quantities and prices against approved BOQs and drawings.
- Prepare and approve interim payment certificates (IPCs) for contractors performing stabilization works.
- Prepare and approve payment certificates for geological and geotechnical consulting services.
- Authorize and sign off payment approvals after verifying the quality and compliance of completed works.
- Participate in technical coordination meetings with the client, contractor, and other consultants to discuss progress and issues.
- Prepare final project reports including as-built conditions, recommendations, and future maintenance advice.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety standards during all stages of design and construction.
- Provide technical guidance and on-site supervision during critical stages of stabilization works.
- Maintain documentation and records for all correspondences, reviews, and approvals to ensure traceability.

Educational Qualifications: : Bachelor’s degree in engineering geology (rock mechanic & geohazard mitigation).
Professional and Technical Certificates (Preferred): Slope stability.
Professional Experience: Minimum 10+ years’ experience in rock mechanic & geohazard mitigation.
