ROLE MAIN PURPOSE:
Promote and ensure a safe and healthy work environment for employees and visitors of Kidana. Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive health and safety policies, procedure, and programs that align with Kidana’s goals and objectives. Also provide strategic direction and oversight to the health and safety team, ensuring compliance with applicable regulation and industry best practices.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Monitor the execution of health and safety strategy in line with Kidana’s overall strategic objectives, ensuring effective and efficient operations.
- Collaborate with the finance division to consolidate budget inputs required for the health and safety department. Ensure that the proposed budget meets the division's requirements and expectations.
- Provide leadership guidance to the health and safety team, ensuring efficient and effective utilization of the approved budget and taking measures to prevent any deviations.
- Foster a culture of safety within the organization, promoting understanding and compliance with health and safety policies and regulations among all employees.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace and develop strategies to control or mitigate those risks.
- Develop and Implement health and safety strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives. This includes developing policies and procedures, conducting training programs, and monitoring compliance.
- Monitor and investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and injuries to identify the root causes and develop proactive strategies to prevent future incidents.
- Manage emergency response plans and procedures, including conducting drills and exercises, and responding to emergencies as they occur.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance, including tracking incidents, analysing data, and developing comprehensive reports.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee workforce planning and talent acquisition strategies, including reporting, figures, and budgets of health and safety department to ensure adequate staffing levels that contribute to the achievement of Kidana’s strategic objectives.
- Set performance management objectives based on health and safety department KPI’s and performance targets for all team members, conducting mid-year and year-end performance reviews.
- proactively identify and develop talent for pivotal roles in coordination with the Human Capital Department, focusing on succession management.
- Take decisive action to ensure the prompt resolution of unresolved grievances or conflicts among team members, fostering a harmonious and productive work environment.
Educational Qualifications: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health and safety, public health, or a related field.
Professional and Technical Certificates (preferred): Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) may be required for some roles. Other certifications may include First Aid/CPR, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).
Professional Experience: Minimum 13+ years of experience in the Health and Safety fields and 7 years’ experience in a leadership role.
